Definition of Suspense

Suspense is the feeling of anxiety or uncertainty caused by not knowing whats going to happen next. This is used in many Litrature pieces, like movies, to keep the audience on their toes and guessing the plot. It is usually built up to lead to a big event or dramatic moment causing tension in the viewer. The director Hitchcocks 'Bomb' theory is where the audience is given lots of information that the characters dont know to make the film more tense.
